[Elliot has heard. He's not a heavy sleeper, he wakes quite easily, and every time he tried to go to Sesa he wound up being thrown backwards in time. It stopped ere long, but he waited anyway, not knowing what he was walking into. At some point, too, he'd read the notebook post, heard Gnosis next door shuffling around before the crane came over and said that Sesa was in the clinic mourning.
Elliot understands, of course. After Professor Thorne died, he was much the same. Angry, despondent... he was only a child, so it felt lesser then. How is a child supposed to cope with death? Yet he still feels that pain of loss as an adult, or why else would he have burned Ibut to the ground?
Seeing Sesa so tearful as Elliot waits on the couch for him renews a fire of vengeance he hasn't felt in a long time. Mizuki, too, is something of a friend to the Liberi, even if Passenger tends to be introverted and avoidant at the best of times.
He guides Sesa toward the couch and pushes him by the shoulders until he sits, and then lays his head on the man's shoulders and quietly, softly coos.]
[Sesa feels more than a little pathetic, as he's guided to the couch to sit down. His eyes are so teary that he can barely see as he takes a seat, curling in close to Elliot as the Liberi rests his head against his shoulders. His presence here is paramount, because otherwise Sesa thinks he might have just slept on the clinic floor. Barring that, he would have gone to the river to sleep by the Seaborn, to make sure they were okay. Fortunately for everyone, he does neither of those things...not that he's any better off emotionally for it.
For what it's worth, he's trying- fighting- to hold back more tears. He's still scrubbing at his eyes fruitlessly, sniffling as tears drip onto his pants, his complexion blotchy and chest congested from having been like this for what feels like hours.
...but he doesn't apologize for crying. This might be the first time he hasn't, and it's something Elliot may notice. Because as he cries, and as his tears slowly dry up, his tail starts moving. Twitching fitfully, angrily at his side as he grits his teeth and takes slow, shaking breaths through them.]
[He will switch their positions so that Sesa is laying against Elliot's shoulder instead, running his fingers through Sesa's hair and across his horns. Despite wanting to comfort, Elliot thinks he's anything but. He feels the welling of rage in his chest, but he snuffs the flame for now, if only for Sesa's sake.
There's nothing to be done. It was a snake sent by the False God. What can they do right now? Not a damn thing.]
Perhaps to kill our morale, since he was of the kindest among us. Perhaps because Mizuki's strength and the consumption of the moon shard made him a target. I do not know.
[Though Elliot may think that, Sesa believes the exact opposite. If he didn't have Elliot to lean on right now, he thinks he would have completely isolated himself from the rest of the Grove. Not that he isn't already doing that, but...at least there's someone here.
At least he isn't entirely alone.
But with grief comes...another feeling. Not a new feeling, but a feeling that Sesa attempts to suppress, because it scares him. The kind of person he becomes when he allows it to take over...scares him.
But he is so angry, so upset and hurt, that he doesn't care. This space with Elliot is safe. Should he say something heinous, he doesn't think the Liberi would judge.
So when he speaks again, his voice is low. Trembling, and dangerous sounding.]
Whoever...whoever did this. I want...
[...]
I want them to suffer. Like they made Mizuki suffer.
[...well now. Isn't that interesting? It's rare that Sesa shakes with rage like this, and practically unheard of that he wants vengeance in the form of suffering. After all, his prior vengeance has never been outlined clearly. Elliot has heard it all, but the answer was merely "whatever it takes", "whatever has to be done", things like that. In the course of revenge plots, that could be anything from simply getting them arrested and tried for the crime all the way to the burning of an entire city just for one man. Revenge is never pretty, even if the consequence laid out is pretty lax.
But no. Sesa doesn't just seek revenge. He seeks suffering, equal or perhaps greater than what Mizuki had to endure. However twisted it is, something deep in Elliot says finally, the fires of his rage have been ignited. Perhaps he really will kill a man after all. Still...]
Gnosis indicated that it was a snake sent by the False God. [Elliot will eat those words later when it comes out that Affogato was responsible.] Yet I do not find that snakes themselves may inherently be the problem.
Sesa, my love... would you be interested in trying to kill a deity who lost his crown?
[Elliot is right. Sesa's typical search for answers does not involve revenge for the sake of it, and certainly not suffering for its sake either. His terms have always been vague, because he struggles to admit to himself that he could possibly have those types of tendencies laying dormant within him.
Surely...surely he isn't capable of such heinous acts. Surely...
Yet here he sits, in his beloved arm's, and begins to wonder if...perhaps he is.
He blinks hard a few times, his eyes aching and his entire body sore from crying. And Elliot's words...they stun him silent, just for a moment.]
If you have spoken to Nian in any capacity, she may tell you. [But Nian in general tends to be pretty mouthy.] A Feranmut can be chopped into pieces and sealed away. I wonder... what would happen if you killed the fragments?
[stop we're not murdering the sui sibs]
Here, I wonder if the Forest is quite as strong as something like Sui was said to be. I sincerely doubt it. Given that we've been able to stand up to it thus far without getting eradicated, I wager that it's perfectly killable, like any mortal thing should be.
The worst part is, Sesa seems to be actually considering Elliot's words. Like, seriously considering them.]
It isn't as strong, but it seems to be capable of behaving in unpredictable ways. If I were to retaliate...what if it simply turned to targeting those I care about?
I mean this respectfully, Sesa, but it already has. It previously possessed Elsword. It has Vash in its clutches and took his brother from him, and Beat did not fare well either. It attacked those from Earthbread, and has seen fit to torment all of us day in and day out. I dare say this is another building block for its misery.
[Sesa makes a low, frustrated sound. Elliot is right, of course. It's already been done, at this point. He can think of nothing worse the Creature could do to him now, save for taking Elliot himself.
And, well. If that were to happen? If that were to happen...
Nothing would be able to stop him, then.]
I know there are some who pity this being. That believe in second chances. But I've reached a point where the crimes far outweigh the potential for redemption.
We have to do something, otherwise we will suffer eternally.
